Abstract : This article discusses the clinical symptoms of lithiasis of the parotid salivary gland, examination methods that allow detection of sialoliths, including x-ray methods, and treatment by antibiotics of the tetracycline group and surgery. Observations of 59 cases of submaxillary salivary gland lithiasis treated at the Dental Surgery Clinic at Zabrze are summarized: 88% of all salivary gland lithiasis is submaxillary; it appears most frequently between 30 and 60 years of age/ in men and on the right side of the face; intraoral and extraoral radiological investigation is the most important factor in the diagnosis, and sialography allows evaluating the changes that have occurred in the gland. The difficulties in the differential diagnosis of diseases of the submaxillary lymphatic glands and salivary glands are emphasized. The clinical symptoms of recurring parotitis are discussed. The most frequently encountered diseases of the paired, labial, buccal, molar, palatal and lingual salivary glands are discussed. (Author)
