Abstract : Florida State University, Louisiana State University, U. S. Waterways Experimental Station, and the Mississippi River Commission were visited to determine if certain deltaic processes within the United States could be studied and applied to similar areas in Southeast Asia. Since NAVOCEANO, in the past, has concentrated on coastal and deep sea charting requirements, there exists a lack of knowledge and experience with the unique problems posed by river navigation. Hydrographic survey techniques and equipment used at various institutions were examined for possible application to river and estuary operations.
