Abstract : A duplexer gas discharge was analyzed in terms of transmission and reflection from a thin slab of plasma across a waveguide. Computer results based on this model were obtained relating arc loss with electron density and collision frequency. In addition, the recovery time theory was generalized to include electron-ion recombination as well as electron attachment. It was found that this generalized theory was able to predict the qualitative features of high and low power chlorine recovery-time experiments. From the experimental results, estimates of chlorine attachment efficiency and recombination coefficient were obtained which were compared with available experimental information. (Author)
