Abstract : This is the seventh in a series of reports describing the results of static test firings conducted to verify the performance of ablative nozzle components fabricated from low-cost materials and/or using low-cost manufacturing processes. The throat approach of Nozzle 7 was fabricated from Kraft paper; the entrance cap, throat inlet, and throat from AVCERAM C/S; and the exit cone from 41RPD asbestos. The forward portion of the exit cone exhibited severe, irregular erosion, confirming that even in large size nozzles the material capability must be matched to the requirement. The Kraft paper exhibited excellent cost advantages for use in the throat approach. (Author).
