Abstract : A study with the objective of contributing to the development of adaptive array radar theory, and the definition of those operations necessary for an adaptive array radar was conducted. Adaptive array radar is concerned with all parts of the radar problem associated with the extraction of the maximum amount of target information per experiment (one or more radar 'looks'). The concept of an adaptive array radar presented in this report is the adaptive modification of the radar by closed-loop control to maximize information per experiment in response to a change in the radar environment.
