Abstract : A potential method of quantitative analysis of high-strength steels by X-Ray fluorescence was investigated. A technique for measuring composition is described in the report. Tool steel, stainless steel, and high temperature alloys of widely varying composition did not provide calibration curves capable of the precision desired. Preparation of calibration curves for each type of alloy is considered necessary for precision in quantitative analysis. (Author)
