Abstract : A technique is developed for the determination of zinc content in human whole blood by neutron activation analysis. The technique is developed for use by technicians at the Air Force Nuclear Engineering Test Facility (AF NETF). The procedure consists of the drying of whole blood aliquots, one hour irradiation, radio-chemical separation, and gamma spectrometry. Irradiations are carried out using the pneumatic transfer system of the 10 megawatt reactor at the AF NETF. Results obtained on normal blood samples are 6.54 (plus or minus 10.8%) micrograms of zinc per gram of whole blood which is in agreement with other investigators cited. (Author)
