Abstract : The purpose of this report is to document the present state of the ascent phase guidance equations for the MOL mission. Extensive simulations were made of the navigation and steering equations. The equations presented are modifications to those appearing in a referenced document and are primarily the result of problems encountered in the initial simulations. No simulations have been made of malfunction detection equations or time-dependent discrete equations and, therefore, no equations for these functions are included. A few simulations have been made of logic or equations to handle various backup modes--such as steering under abnormal low thrust or commanding switchover if Stage II shutdown has been commanded but not sensed--and, therefore, no modifications to handle these functions are included.
