Abstract : The development of a quartz crystal test set is described. The characteristics of the test set, which is of the Crystal Impedance Meter type, include a frequency range of 0.8 MHz to 20 MHz, a power range of 0.1 microwatt to 10 milliwatts, a resistance range of 3 to 800 ohms, a resistance accuracy of plus or minus 5% or 1 ohm, and frequency accuracy of plus or minus 0.000001. Other features incorporated in the test set include an adjustable proportional controlled oven from 70 C to 90 C with an accuracy of plus or minus 0.1 C, a frequency multiplier the output of which is in the frequency range of from 36 to 90 MHz, and a balanced RF voltmeter to determine crystal drive level.
