Abstract : The rate of dissociation of HF behind incident shock waves has been studied in the temperature range of 3700 to 6100 K. The course of dissociation was followed by monitoring the emission intensity of the 1 to 0 band of HF centered at 2.5 microns. The reaction between OF2 and hydrogen has been studied in sufficient detail to provide model mechanistic data. The reaction was studied over the temperature range 450 to 560 K and at hydrogen pressures of from 5 to 700 mm.
