Abstract : This report describes the work accomplished during the sixth quarter of a program to develop, design, and fabricate a complete chamber aerosol assessment system. Its primary application will be in the area of testing and evaluating methods of disseminating chemical agents in which the mass concentration and chemical and physical properties of the aerosol clouds must be defined accurately to predict aerodynamic transport and physiological effects. For optimum utilization, sensor outputs are to be integrated and automated insofar as practical with the added requirement that all measurements relate to real time. During this period, program objectives, future work schedules and instrument selections were reviewed with Edgewood Arsenal representatives. Studies were continued on methods of inverting mass decay data for predicting particle size and on the analysis of organophosphates by flame photometry. Investigations were started on the effects of electrostatic phenomena on aerosol assessment and on methods of characterizing particle size in relation to physiological effects. (Author)
