Abstract : An amplifier using field effect transistors for high input resistance was developed to match a piezoelectric gage to a transmission cable. Three advantages are gained over the usual connection of gage to cable: (1) Gage output voltage increases as much as 200 times. (2) The transmission line can be terminated correctly, thus eliminating distortion caused by reflections. (3) Cable noise is reduced. (Author)
