Abstract : The cathodic zinc processes were studied at 0C. The limiting current density of the zinc electrode and the overvoltage for the zincate reduction were measured in 20, 30, 35, 40 and 45% KOH, each containing varying amounts of dissolved zinc oxide. The limiting current density is higher and the overvoltage is less when the zinc electrodes are amalgamated. The effect of circulating the electrolyte on the cycling behavior of the zinc electrode was studied at room temperature. The rate of circulation was 5 ml/min. No beneficial effect was observed.
