Abstract : The existence of fluorine containing complex cations was established, not only in the case of known, but doubtful species, but a new representative of this type of ions, the NF4(+), was also prepared the first time. The preparation of these ions was achieved directly or indirectly through the heterolytic fission of the fluorine molecule. The following compounds were prepared and their structure determined: ClF2(+)BF4(-), ClF2(+)AsF6(-), ClF2(+)SbF6(-), NO(+)ClF2(-), M(+)ClF2(-), and M(+)ClF4(-) (where M = K, Rb, Cs) NF4(+)AsF6, N2F(+)BF4(-), O2(+)BF4(-), O2(+)AsF6(-). The formation of the latter two was observed from a mixture of OF2, F2 and BF3 or AsF5 when the formation of OF3(+) cation was expected. (Author)
