Abstract : A computer program is described for an analytical block aerotriangulation adjustment. The program was written for GE 635 computer at the Rome Air Development Center, Rome, New York. Designed primarily as a research tool, the program uses advanced numerical and programming techniques that permit the simultaneous adjustment of virtually unlimited numbers of aerial photographs. The inverse of the coefficient matrix of the normal equations may be computed on option. Thus, the standard errors of the adjusted parameters may, for the first time, be rigorously determined. The block adjustment as programmed is completely automatic: starting with the raw photo measurements, initial approximations of the elements of exterior orientation of the photographs, and ground coordinates of the control points, the program computes initial approximations of the pass-point ground coordinates and then goes into a series of iterative solutions, relinearizing the normal equations and editing the data automatically, until a stable solution is reached and the final values of the pass-point ground coordinates are computed. The entire process requires no manual intervention. An artificial data generator is provided to permit the program to be used in a simulated mode. (Author)
