Abstract : The report describes a program to develop, design, and fabricate an integrated chamber aerosol assessment system. Its primary application will be in the area of testing and evaluation of the dissemination of chemical agents in which the mass concentration and chemical and physical properties of the aerosol clouds must be defined accurately to predict aerodynamic transport and physiological effects. For optimum utilization, sensor outputs are to be integrated and automated insofar as practical with the added requirement that all measurements relate to real time. During this period, theoretical approaches for measurement of aerosol electrical charge effects were developed and preliminary instrumental calibrations and measurements were performed. A discussion of proposed scaling factors to be used as guides in maintaining stirred settling in chambers, irrespective of size, is also presented. The relationship between aerosol sampling and size assessment techniques and the bioeffectiveness of chemical agents is discussed. Studies were continued on mathematical inversions of mass decay data and the analysis of organophosphorous compounds by flame photometry. (Author)
