Abstract : Thin sections of a large number of radioactive fall-out particles from Operation JANGLE were made. The thin sections were studied under a petrographic microscope and then radioautographed. It was found that the particles were composed almost wholly of glass with varying amounts of included mineral fragments and air bubbles. The radioactivity was distributed irregularly throughout the particles. (Author)
