Abstract : This manual provides operating and maintenance instructions for the retarding rocket installation on missiles having a removable nose cone. The purpose of the retarding rocket installation is to retard the missile afterbody, thus separating it sufficiently from the nose cone to prevent the afterbody interfering with the nose cone if it should start to tumble or to break up on reentry.
