Abstract : The ultrashort-wave fading phenomena are closely coupled with inhomogeneous stratification at the height of the tropopause or above it and that the theory requires an oblique position of the layer, which is the case of high waves. The effect can only be observed at certain points of the surface of the earth which are specifically located in the area of the dead zones of the propagation. We may therefore assume that fading occurs more often than the above statistics reveal. (Author)
