Abstract : A novel method for measuring the thermal conductivity, involving an electrically heated wire embedded in the sample, was developed. The method was used to measure the thermal conductivity of a foam glass sample (93-96% porosity) at various temperatures. The temperature vs. thermal conductivity curve was presented and discussed. The results obtained by the new technique were compared to those reported in the literature for a similar glass. An equation characterizing the relations between the thermal conductivity and temperature of foam glass was derived. (Author)
