Abstract : A numerical technique using a method of direct integration has been developed for the calculation of photon transport in semi-infinite slab geometries. The calculations are accomplished by a computer code written in Fortran IV and compatible for use on both the IBM 7094 and the CDC 6600. The method considers anisotropic first scatter and assumes subsequent scatters to be isotropic. The source radiation is assumed to be plane parallel and monoenergetic. Slab composition is arbitrary. Polyenergetic sources are handled by superposition. Events considered include photo-electric effect, Compton scatter, and Rayleigh scatter. Output includes an energy deposition profile and the transmitted and reflected energy fluences. Fluorescence effects where significant are calculated. (Author)
