Abstract : Information is given concerning a simple and fast method for the recognition of the dyspepsy coli types 0 111:B4,0 55 B 5 and 0 26:B 6 by means of fluorescent antibodies (marking with 1-dimethylaminonaphtalin-5-sulfochloride). The presence of dyspepsy coli was demonstrated in 435 out of 700 samples of faeces by means of the fluorescence method, while bacteriological serological tests run at the same time were positive in only 251 cases. The special advantage of the fluorescence method is that it is possible to prove the presence of the dyspepsy coli germs within an hour after admission of the child, so that a suitable isolation can prevent the spread of the dyspepsy coli infection to the digestion of infants.
