Abstract : It is the purpose of this project to determine the lateral difficulty of single spherical particles in an isotropic turbulent air flow and the corresponding Lagrangian velocity autocorrelation coefficient. The particles are to vary in size, density, and in time constant, and are to have a stable wake. Five hundred pictures of the 87 microns corn pollen have been obtained, 50 in each of the 10 cameras. The particle positions were measured from the negatives; the results of these measurements are presented. Preliminary experiments were performed to determine design criteria for the particle-size discriminator. (Author)
