Abstract : It was seen that a selective storage of berberine took place in the area of the sub-polar granules. It seems therefore that metachromatic granules can be formed through deposits of metaphosphates at reduction points (which can be demonstrated through the use of TTC or, better still, NTC), and that these metachromatic granules can then in turn be easily made visible through other methods, such as Neisser staining, toluide blue staining, or acridine orange fluorochromation.
