Abstract : Atmospheric absorption measurements were made at Aberdeen Proving Ground during various seasons in 1966 and 1967 in order to collect data for a variety of ambient temperatures and humidities. The radiometer was calibrated by means of a thermal calibrator which was a non-coherent thermal radiation source. Using least square fitting, a linear calibration curve was obtained between the absolute temperature difference of the signal and reference load inputs and the radiometer output. The inverse of the slope of the curve was then used to determine the effective antenna temperature for a given deflection recorded on the chart. The result obtained was 27.5K per millivolt. (Author)
