Abstract : Negative ions formed by electron resonance capture in alkali halide vapors were investigated mass spectrometrically. Ions detected were: M(-), X(-), MX(-), and M2X(-) (M = Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs; X = F, Cl, Br, I). From measured appearance potentials and known dissociated energies, lower limits are given for the electron affinities of the alkali metals and the alkali halides. (Author)
