Abstract : Modification of an existing static test stand, 65-1, at Vandenberg Air Force Base to test the Atlas F Series configuration, incorporates missile support pedestals that protrude into the flame deflector. One-thirtieth scale studies were undertaken to determine the heating rates that could be expected at the base of the missile and the pedestals. A proposed 'dry' flame deflector coating was also evaluated. (Author)
