Abstract : The development of titanium alloys for specific service conditions has continued to be of major concern in titanium research. Typical alloy types being developed include improved 'near-alpha' alloys principally for application in engines and beta alloys for a variety of applications. This review attempts to summarize developments in these alloy types in terms of properties effects and presents considerable preliminary data on relatively new alloy candidates. (Author)
