Abstract : In investigating the foaming problem, the need arose for the development of a foam test device which would predict the foaming and aeration tendencies of high-temperature lubricants. A foam and aeration test device was developed to fulfill this need. Modifications were made in the test equipment and the testing procedures throughout the testing program. The test units functioned both at station elevation of 745 feet and at simulated altitude conditions ranging from 15,000 to 40,000 feet. Various lubricants were tested at different temperatures and pressures. (Author)
