Abstract : Seismic reflection and refraction measurements indicate that four separate velocity layers exist above the mantle in this area. Their combined thickness ranges from 4 to 8 km. The Mohorovicic Discontinuity occurs at a depth of 9.3 km. above sea level in several of the seismic sections shown. (Author)
