Abstract : The development of an electronic ignition delay element was undertaken in order to improve the timing accuracy of sustainer motor ignition in small boost-coast-boost type of propulsion systems. The desired tolerance was determined to be plus or minus 5 percent of a nominal value of from 50 to 250 milliseconds in the military environment. An electronic delay circuit powered by a miniature battery was selected to meet this requirement. (Author)
