Abstract : The development of vehicles powered by direct-current sources together with the development of the silicon-controlled rectifier led to the use of squirrel-cage induction motors operating on non-sinusoidal, variable-frequency voltage supplies. A digital computer simulation of the transient and steady-state performance of a three-phase motor is derived and its use in predicting motor operation is illustrated. (Author)
