Abstract : The study described is a part of the general investigation of infiltration of soils into buried conduit being conducted to provide the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers with criteria that will enable the designer to recognize soil and other conditions under which infiltration will occur. This part of the general program investigated the openings that actually occur between coupling bands and the pipe and in the longitudinal and circumferential joints of standard corrugation steel pipe. The results of this investigation were to be used as a guide in the selection of spacings between corrugations in the model test apparatus used in the infiltration study. (Author)
