Abstract : Four candidate topically applied insect repellents, ENT-28926-Ga, ENT-28927-Ga, ENT-28930-Ga, and ENT-28951-Ga were evaluated for their potential to cause skin and eye irritation in New Zealand White Rabbits. None of the four compounds produced primary irritation of the intact skin or the skin surrounding an abrasion. ENT-28926-Ga produced moderate injury to the cornea and some injury to the conjunctiva. ENT-28927-Ga produced mild injury to the cornea and some injury to the conjunctiva. ENT's 28930-Ga and 28951-Ga produced severe injury to the cornea and the conjunctiva. It was recommended that the candidate repellents be resubmitted in the concentration and form in which they might be used, in order that the eye irritation potential can be reexamined. (Author)
