Abstract : Marine biological observations made from aircraft provide a rapid and effective means of determining synoptic distribution patterns of large marine organisms. Relatively large near-surface organisms are more readily observed from an aircraft than from a ship. The use of aircraft as observing platforms is limited primarily by air-sea interactions which create poor observing conditions. (Author)
