Abstract : The decomposition of pure acetylacetone occurs uniformly in the temperature range of 374-540C in accordance with a time law of the first order. The question arose of the disintegration velocity of the chelates. Copper acetylacetonate was the pattern substance, purified by repeated fractionated crystallization from methanol. The decompositions are similar to acetylacetone disintegration with acetone, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and methane as its main products. Gas chromatography discerned small quantities of ethylene, propylene, butylene, water, acetic acids, methylacetate, and ethylacetate and methyl ethylketone.
