Abstract : Description and design of a proposed dual-shock tube facility and a shock-tube facility are given. The results of adiabatic kinetic calculations of the effects of chemical additives on the ignition delay of hydrogen-oxygen-argon gas mixtures are presented. The calculations indicate that total ignition delay consists of two separate induction periods: Isothermal Induction followed by Thermal Induction. Calculated results are shown to be consistent with the generally accepted chain branching and recombination reaction mechanism. (Author)
