Abstract : A preliminary assessment of relative toxicity determination was conducted on O,O-diethyl phosphorothioate O-ester with phenylglyoxyl-nitrile oxime (ENT-27448-Ga). The compound does not produce primary irritation to the intact or abraded skin of rabbits, nor does it cause a sensitization reaction in guinea pigs. There appears to be some variability in acute toxicity between rats, mice, cats and dogs as well as great differences in acute toxicity to rats and mice as reported by the U. S. Army Environmental Hygiene Agency and the commercial source of this compound. Data obtained from 21 days of continuous application of ENT-27448-Ga to the skin of rabbits indicate that the compound penetrates the intact skin and causes a significant reduction in cholinesterase activity.
