Abstract : Using an emission shock wave technique, rate expressions for the dissociation of HF were determined utilizing the v(1-0) R(3) and R(6) transitions for monitoring HF concentration. The rate determination for (J = 3) agrees with a previous investigation at this facility using a different technique. Agreement with results of other laboratories is also good. The rate for the (J = 6) transition contains an activation energy much lower than noted in these other investigations and greater than the estimated experimental error. No definite conclusions can be drawn at this time to its significance until more reduced data are available. (Author)
