Abstract : A disadvantage of using explosive charges in underwater acoustics experiments is the undesired influences from the bubble pulses. Considering the phenomena under investigation as a linear system, the effect of the bubble pulses can be removed by applying the technique of deconvolution or inverse filtering. By using the Fast Fourier Transform this processing can now be conveniently done in the frequency domain. Some properties of the Fast Fourier Transform are reviewed and it is shown how they can be used for deconvolution. An example of the removal of the bubble pulsed in connection with bottom reflection studies is given. (Author)
