Abstract : This report investigates a proposed model for multiplication of two input signals, based upon simulation of neural processes. The model consists of four sets of two arrays each of randomlyconnected threshold devices. Mathematical analysis of the model shows that the mean of the output random variable is twice the product of the input signals, attenuated by a factor that is inversely proportional to the number of devices. A special case of the model with nonrandom connections between the devices is found to perform highlyaccurate multiplication of the input signals. (Author)
