Abstract : The purpose of this test was to evaluate the interface heat transfer capability of the Gemini B-MOL interface heat exchanger interstitial material (a silicone grease - silver powder mixture) at simulated orbital pressures and expected temperatures. Tests were conducted with and without interstitial material between the interface surfaces of the simulated heat exchanger and the interface loads simulated were the minimum and maximum anticipated in the actual installation. The average interface heat transfer coefficients obtained were 186 Btu/hr-sq ft F for the clean surfaces and 661 Btu/hr-sq ft F using interstitial grease. (Author)
