Abstract : The effort was directed toward production of machine-coated rolls of film, approximately 9-1/2 inches wide by 250 feet long, of four different formulations of free-radical photographic materials. Satisfactory machine coatings were made of the DPA blue-image material, a black-image modification of the SQ photosystem, and an orange-image modification of the DPA formula (designated DPA-I). The latter was developed in order to have available a free-radical film having the correct image color for subsequent printing on silver-halide film, such as SO-278. Two 250-foot rolls of each of the foregoing were delivered to the Air Force. Finally, several machine-coated test runs were made of various 2S formulations, and one was selected for the 250-foot roll production run.
