Abstract : The dynamic equations of motion of a circling line within no constraints on the bottom end were developed using the method of Lagrange. The idealized mathematical model for the circling line consisted of inextensible links with the mass and area of each link concentrated at its lower end. The equations of motion were solved using a fourth-order Runge-Kutta integration. The results show the effect of airplane flight conditions, cable characteristics, payloads, drag devices, applied impulses, and wind and gusts on the motion of the end of the cable and tension in the last link.
