Abstract : Nondestructive tests (NDT) were used in conjunction with physical and mechanical properties destructive tests to (a) determine the influence of voids on the mechanical properties of Thornel 50 graphite fiber-reinforced epoxy composites tested in normal and high humidity environments; (b) examine fabrication methods for introducing voids into these composites; (c) investigate methods for measuring void content, with emphasis on NDT techniques; and (d) determine if correlations exist for mechanical properties and void content.
