Abstract : A general digital program is presented to calculate the power spectral density of digital data representing a time series. Direct and indirect methods for computation of a power spectrum are analyzed. Two basic algorithms for the computation of an autocovariance are compared in a simulation study. Several methods for generating and presenting the spectral plots are discussed and used.
