Abstract : Operations of a submerged tissue culture pilot facility are presented. Oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) was controlled, and its effects on fermentation are discussed. A strain of Earle's L cells was grown to as high as 4400000 viable cells per ml. Cultures were grown without the aid of antibiotics. An internal standard was developed to calibrate the redox measuring system. (Author)
