Abstract : A discrete-element program, SABOR 5, for the linear-elastic, static, load-deflection analysis of meridionally-curved, variable-thickness, branched, thin shells of revolution which may be subjected to arbitrary external mechanical loading and/or to thermal loading is described. The discrete elements may be of the soft-bonded double-layer type or of the single-layer type, wherein the material of a shell layer may be isotropic or orthotropic with principal axes oriented at an arbitrary skew inplane angle with respect to the meridional and the circumferential directions. The many functions as well as the input and output modes of SABOR 5 are explained. The input and output for several structural problems are presented to enable the user to check the adaptation of this program to his computer facility. Finally, a complete FORTRAN IV listing of SABOR 5 is included.
