Abstract : Claims for several compaction agents currently on the market are that, when added to soil during compaction, they will decrease the compactive effort required to obtain the optimum density and achieve uniform moisture and will increase strength by digesting organic material and by resistance to entry of water. To check on these claims, several tests of unconfined compression, permeability, and classification were made on two similar types of soils with and without one specific compaction agent. (Author)
