Abstract : The report presents findings with respect to the feasibility of predicting HF propagation disturbances resulting from solar X-ray emissions that are detectable by the SOLRAD satellite. Several examples of HF propagation disturbances resulting from X-ray events are presented to demonstrate the strong correlation that exists. The findings to date are presented in terms of the reliability of predictions that can be made, the limitations imposed by present knowledge, the complexity of the geophysical environment, and the quality of measurement data.
